Description

Sanjay Bhattacharya, born in 1958 in Kolkata, West Bengal is a senior contemporary artist. Sanjay studied Diploma in Fine Arts from Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata in 1982. Sanjay’s artworks are realistic in nature. He is well known for Rajiv Gandhi Series (1994) that portrays Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in the interior scenes which are striking in nature. His art works focuses on middle-class homes and localities of Kolkata with exquisite detail and light and shade. They also reflect experiences that revolves around people’s lives and daily chores. His paintings can be seen in significant public and private collections in India and abroad including the World Bank and the Parliament House in New Delhi.
