Description

Tapati Sarkar is one of the promising young artists. Her works are the reflections of social realities of our times. She portrays the society, its movements and people in her works. The common people and their daily struggles feature prominently in her works. Sometimes the struggles are represented through figures in action and sometimes through their mere moods.

She uses bold lines which convey varied feelings, emotions, sound and silence. Her paintings are so emotive that you can almost hear the characters narrate their stories with pose and poignancy. Her works portray women in different forms and moods through vibrant colours and striking bold lines.

Tapati Sarkar studied B.F.A. at the University of Kolkata. Her works were part of many prestigious groups' shows across the country. She also held many solo shows. She has widely contributed to different mediums like newspapers, periodicals and television. The artist lives and works in Kolkata.
