
Amrita Ghosh, born in Asansol, West Bengal, in 1984, has received her Master of Fine Arts in History of Art from Kala Bhavan, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan in 2012. An Indian contemporary artist, Amrita is known as much for her evocative paintings rich with symbols and motifs as for the brilliant and vivid colour palette and the vast variety of mediums and materials she deploys to express the emotional content of her work.
...Amrita’s works have been showcased in numerous exhibitions, including a solo show ‘Aamaar Aranya’ at India Habitat Centre’s Visual Arts Gallery, New Delhi in 2022; two-Person Exhibitions like ‘Amader Katha’, at India International Centre’s Art Gallery Annexe; ‘Our Worlds, the Inner and the Outer...’, at India Habitat Centre; ‘Draw Drew Drawn’, at Dhoomimal Gallery; ‘Of Dreams and Realities..’, at Lalit Kala Akademi and Dhoomimal Gallery, in New Delhi; and many notable group shows including the ones organized by Dhoomimal Gallery, New Delhi; Chaturdik Art Gallery Jawahar Kala Kendra, Kalaneri Art Gallery, Jaipur; and Gallery Sree Arts to name some. She has taken part in art events like 87th and 85th All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS) Annual Exhibition, Ravi Jain Annual Exhibition organized by Dhoomimal Gallery, and the Annual Exhibition of Kala-Bhavan at Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. Amrita has participated in art camps organized by Sahitya Kala Parishad Delhi, Urusvati Folk Art Museum and Urusvati Centre for Contemporary Arts, Rasaja Foundation and Gallery Sree Arts among others.
Her works can be found in various collections both in India and abroad (France, the UK, the USA, and Italy, to name a few).
Besides painting, Amrita also contributes articles on art those have been published in different art and literary magazines and newsletters in both English and Bengali. Currently she is living and working in Gurugram, Haryana.
