Drawing inspiration from her childhood in Aari, Madhya Pradesh, Jain incorporates a distinctive process influenced by the rural craft of paper pulp basket-making. She applies layers of clay and natural binders, such as Babool tree glue, onto canvas, allowing them to dry into richly textured surfaces. Infused with pigments derived from nature, her compositions evoke the shifting hues of sunrises, sunsets, flowing water, and verdant landscapes.
Through this series, Jain invites viewers to experience nature not just visually, but through texture and depth. Her work bridges the past and present, transforming traditional practices into immersive contemporary expressions. By embracing natural materials and organic forms, In the Lap of Nature becomes more than an artistic endeavour—it is a quiet meditation on the harmony between humanity and the environment.
