Bimal Dasgupta (1917 - 1995)

Bimal Dasgupta was born in 1917 in West Bengal and brought up in Delhi. He joined Kolkata’s College of Arts and Crafts in 1937. He was for a long time associated with Dhoomimal Art Gallery in New Delhi. He subsequently started teaching in the College of Art, New Delhi. Bimal Dasgupta was master of the natural world. He was a prolific landscape artist. His exposure to European art led him to experiment in cubism. Slowly, his landscapes leaned towards abstractionism. He travelled widely and exhibited in Moscow and Tokyo. He received several honours like the one in Sahitya Kala Parishad, New Delhi.
