Description

Subrata Kundu was born in Kolkata in 1969 and studied art from Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata in 1986 and also at College of Art, New Delhi. He held many solo shows and several group shows of importance. He received esteemed awards from the West Bengal State Academy, Sahitya Kala Parishad and All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society, New Delhi. His works are post-modernist in the sense that they clearly show the ugly picture of

futility of modern consumerist world. The artist is at odds with the mechanization of life itself and the erosion of human values in an urban context and he tries to capture that angst in his works. His works feature in several collections in India and abroad. He passed away in 2010.
