Description

A resident of the city of Allahabad, Dheeraj Yadav completed his graduation in Fine Arts in 2012 and subsequently secured a Masters in Fine Arts in 2014. His initiation into art also has an interesting story behind it. His father was a teacher of a traditional wood craft and it is through his father that he got inclined towards art. His father further encouraged him and soon he was to take further his passion for arts. For a young artist, Dheeraj exhibits uncanny maturity in his work. His experiments with form and medium and the line are the basis of his artistic expression and his strength. His recent body of work comprises of drawings and mixed media renderings on books: Dheeraj picks a relevant page of a relevant book, he relates to the text or image within and works on that to enhance his expression and using it as a base for his multi layered construction. Dheeraj has done works on a plethora of subjects including women and cityscapes. He is specially known for his visually evocative paintings exploring the holy city of Varanasi. Dheeraj in 2017 was part of a residency at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. He was the second artist to be bestowed upon that honour from Uttar Pradesh. As someone who has contributed to the art world quietly. He is a recipient of several awards including the State Lalit Kala Akademi award in 2010. In 2015, he got the IFACS award and in 2016 he got a National award.
