Description

Niren Sengupta was born in 1940 in West Bengal. He is an acclaimed Indian artist and was the former Principal of College of Art, New Delhi. He is an academician with a profound passion for painting. He holds graduation degree in science stream from University of Calcutta, and also studied in fine art at the Government College of Art and Crafts, Kolkata. Sengupta is also a founder member of ‘Gallery 26’ in Kolkata. His works are agile and artistic expressions of his innermost and spiritual reflections marinated with serenity, sacrifice, service and beauty. He has several solo and esteemed group exhibitions to his credit. He has been honoured with many accolades like AIFACS Award and NBT Award in New Delhi and many others. Niren Sen Gupta’s works are aesthetic expressions of his inner reflections infused with serenity, quietude and beauty. His communion with happenings around him evolves and reflects in his works. His meticulousness with colours and contrasting hues well define his forms.
