Dilip Dasgupta has been a prominent name in the world of Indian art. Dasgupta was born in 1931 in Shimla, India. He is a former student of Delhi Polytechnic, New Delhi and later studied in Naples, Italy. Dasgupta has been quite famous for dynamic landscapes that leaves the viewers awe-struck. He paints in oil and watercolours to depict his sediments and artistic expressions on the canvas. Dasgupta has been honoured with several prizes and accolades for his significant contribution in the art world which includes best watercolour Landscape’s by the All-India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS), New Delhi, National Award, Lalit Kala Akademy (LKA), New Delhi. He also received the President’s Plaque at the annual exhibition organised by All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS) in New Delhi in the 1960s. Dasgupta has spent an ample amount of time in the holy city of Varanasi in painting scenes where the Ganges river runs past meditating ascetics and a profusion of temples spilling over its banks. He has exhibited his works in many solo shows all over India and the world primarily in countries like Germany, Denmark, Malta, Nepal and Italy
