Description

Sanju Das was born and brought up in Mithila, culturally one of the most vibrant part of north-east bihar, and had studied B.A. from Mithila Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Lahariya Sarai, Darbhanga, Bihar. Like many other women from the Mithila land, Sanju started practicing Mithila Painting under the guidance of her mother. Her venture into modern art helps her infuse both folk traditions and contemporary style into one. She is now a practicing artist, who was awarded Kumud Sharma Puraskar, in the year 2018, a Government of Bihar Facilitation awarded to senior artists. She has held her solo exhibitions between 1999 to 2013 in various locations in Delhi like, India Habitat Centre and Lalit Kala Akademy. She also participated in a group exhibition on women artists at NGMA, New Delhi. She was part of several artist camps like the one organized by PACE Group Noida in 1998, All India Art Camp, Dehradun, organized by REACH in 2007 and All India Art Camp organized by Sahitya Kala Parishad, New Delhi in 2009.

Her works are part of prestigious collections at NGMA, New Delhi, ITDC and many private galleries in India and abroad. She has been featured on the cover of HANS, Vartaman Sahitya and Grihshobha. There are several articles of hers published in Samkaleen Kala (Hindi), Dainik Jagran, Sakhi Magazine, Jansatta, Rashtriya Sahara, Hindustan etc.
