S. G. Vasudev is a celebrated contemporary Indian artist who graduated from the Government College of Art and Craft, Chennai, in 1968, under the mentorship of K. C. S. Paniker. He gained prominence with his Vriksha (Tree of Life) series, which evolved into the Mithuna series, blending plant life with human figures to explore companionship. While his early work used thick, heavy paint, he later shifted to a smooth, poetic style that blended soft lines with bright colors. He also worked with master weavers to turn his art into beautiful silk tapestries.
